Eleven Bravehearts Named to All-Star Roster
Gruszecki Named Final Vote Candidate
Worcester, MA – The Futures Collegiate Baseball League will host its 2018 All-Star Game at historic Holman Stadium in Nashua, New Hampshire on Tuesday, July 17 at 7:05 PM. The Bravehearts will be well-represented in the game, as eleven Worcester players were named all-stars during the league’s selection show in Friday.
In tribute to Holman Stadium’s 80th anniversary and its being the former home of the Nashua Dodgers, one team will be named “Nashua,” and the other, “Dodgers.” Six Bravehearts were named to visiting Nashua: Brett Coffel (Saint Leo), Edward Haus (St. Mary’s College), Chris Rinaldi (Holy Cross), Dustin Harris (St. Petersburg), Michael Dellicarri (SUNY-Oswego), and Danny Barlok (Holy Cross). Five Worcester players were named to the Dodgers: Mack Cheli (Chapman College), Henry Ennen (Northeastern), Makenzie Stills (Vanderbilt), Dakota McFadden (Keystone College), and Kendall Pomeroy (UMass-Lowell).
Five Worcester players – Barlok, Ennen, Stills, McFadden, and Pomeroy – were named all-stars as pitchers from a Bravehearts’ staff that leads the league in both ERA (3.33) and strikeouts (324). Ennen currently sits second in the league in ERA (2.22) and ninth in strikeouts (31). Stills has pitched his way to a 1.64 ERA in 22 innings of work, picking up 22 strikeouts along the way. Pomeroy sits at eleventh in the league in strikeouts with 29.
Worcester will be sending six position players to the game in Coffel, Haus, Rinaldi, Harris, Dellicarri, and Cheli. In twelve games with the Bravehearts, Haus is hitting .435, followed by Rinaldi, who sits third in the FCBL in batting average (.354). Dellicarri has slugged his way to a .331 average and six homeruns, good enough for fifth and second in the league, respectively. Cheli’s six homeruns is tied with Dellicarri for second in the FCBL in that category. Dellicarri (28), Coffel (22), Harris (20), and Cheli (18) are all in the top 10 for runs batted in.
Pitcher Sebastian Gruszecki (Florida Gulf Coast) has been nominated as Worcester’s Final Vote candidate. Gruszecki is currently tied for first in the FCBL in wins with four, second in strikeouts (35), and fourth in ERA (3.00). Fans can vote online at https://t.co/2XiniJ2rsK?ssr=true. The top two players voted will be selected. Voting is open now and closes on Sunday July 15, 2018.
