Suns Snap Braveheart’s Nine Game Winning Streak
Feeney shuts down Worcester’s bats in 4-1 win
Worcester, MA— Gage Feeney pitched 8.1 innings, allowing just one run as the Suns beat the Bravehearts 4-1. The loss was the first for the Bravehearts in ten games.
The Suns jumped out to an early lead in the first innings. Chad Shade led the game off with a single and scored when Patrick Sullivan hit a single of his own.
Pittsfield scored the rest of their runs in the 4th inning. After a Brian McHale single, Hunter Hudson hit an RBI single to give Pittsfield a 2-0 advantage. Nolan Cloutier then crushed a two-run homer to left to extend the lead to four.
Worcester’s bats began to come alive in the bottom of the ninth. Michael Dellicarri and Jack Gonzalez hit back-to-back one-out singles. Dustin Harris then hit an RBI single to cut the Pittsfield lead to three and knock Feeney out of the game. The bases were loaded after Kirk Sidwell walked, but Paul Gozzo flew out to right to end the rally.
Gage Feeney was nothing short of dominant. He went 8.1 innings, allowing just 1 run off 8 hits. Bradley Hughes got the save for the Suns. Worcester’s Sebastian Gruszecki picked up the loss. He pitched 4.1 innings, allowing 4 runs off 7 hits.
With the win, the Suns improve to 17-23 while the Bravehearts fall to 26-15. Worcester plays the Suns again tomorrow in Pittsfield at 5:00 pm.
