Grateful Hearts Donate School Supplies
School Supplies Donated to the Worcester Public Schools On Monday, August 6th, six residents from The Willows, along with Dave Peterson, General Manager of the Bravehearts and Jake the Lion, mascot for the Bravehearts, delivered 39 boxes of supplies to Mark Berthiaume, Director of the Parent Information Center of the WPS. These supplies will be delivered to various schools in the WPS. This is the second year that the Grateful Hearts have collected supplies for the Worcester Public Schools. Hundreds of packages of pencils, pens, notebooks, and paper, along with calculators, boxes of tissues, math games, and other much-needed supplies were delivered. The Grateful Hearts is a volunteer charity group of eight to 10 dedicated residents at The Willows at Worcester. The group was formed in September, 2016 to raise funds and make awareness for various charities in Worcester and the surrounding area.
In the past 18 months the group--with help from fellow residents, staff, and administration--has contributed over 1500 pounds of food to the Worcester County Food Bank, 27 boxes of school supplies for students and teachers to the Worcester Public Schools Parent Information Center, 90 pairs of gloves and mittens--many handmade-- to various organizations, $371.22 to the BeLikeBrit Foundation, and 24 handmade fleece blankets to the Greater Worcester Housing Connection. The latest effort on the part of the group was a raffle of three themed baskets for the Rise Above Foundation which raised $563.00. If you would like to donate new items--notebooks, paper, crayons, markers, pens and pencils, calculators, bulletin board materials, etc., please contact the Worcester Bravehearts front office at 508-438-3773. |
