With all tickets now on sale, the Worcester Bravehearts are adding some spice to the summer schedule at Hanover Insurance Park. Promotional giveaways, performances, and celebrity appearances are set for all 28 home games in 2019.
Opening night will be Thursday, May 30 and will feature Skydivers landing on the field prior to the game. The night will also offer the City of Worcester an opportunity to welcome Red Sox World Series champion, Keith Foulke, whose appearance on April 20th at Fan Fest was postponed due to rain. That appearance is sponsored by Bay State Savings Bank. That same evening, the Bravehearts and Saint Vincent Hospital will be supporting the Worcester County Food Bank with the annual cereal drive, and those who donate will be registered for a chance to win a meet & greet with Keith Foulke.
Just like in previous years, the Bravehearts will have some great t-shirt giveaway nights! The first will be held on Saturday, June 8 when the team will be saying farewell to Kelley Square with “RIP Kelley Square” t-shirts. The other two t-shirt giveaways will be honoring two 50-year anniversaries, beginning with a celebration of the Brady Bunch on Saturday, June 29. The Worcester Railers will be sponsoring a t-shirt giveaway that night to include illustrations of some of Worcester's famous mascots on the front. The 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing will occur on Saturday, July 20 with a spacesuit t-shirt giveaway for the first 500 fans. Moon Landing Night will also feature a post-game fireworks show presented by Southbridge Credit Union. There will be five other Friday night post-game fireworks shows this summer: May 31, June 14, June 28, July 26, and August 2.
The game on August 2 will also serve as the Bravehearts annual bobblehead giveaway night. On that night, the first 500 fans will receive a Ted Williams bobblehead to commemorate his historic home run at Fitton Field 80 years ago. The College of the Holy Cross will co-sponsor the Ted Williams bobblehead. That is not the only time baseball history took place in Worcester, as the first perfect game in MLB history occurred on June 12, 1880 on the campus of what is now Becker College. J. Lee Richmond's historic feat will be celebrated with a $50,000 prize giveaway to a lucky fan if the Bravehearts toss a perfect game on June 12th. No perfect game? Don't worry. A fan could still win $10,000 if the Bravehearts pitch a shutout that night.
“Who ya gonna call?” Of course you are going to call the Bravehearts box office to buy tickets for the game on Friday, June 28. Along with there being fireworks that night, the 30 year anniversary of Ghostbusters will be celebrated with special Ghostbusters themed jerseys that fans will be able bid on during the game. The proceeds of this jersey auction will go towards the 365Z Foundation. A second jersey auction will be held at the last home game of the regular season on Saturday, August 3. After a successful fundraiser for the Ava Roy fund in December and January that raised over $20,000 for the family of fallen firefighter Christopher Roy, the Bravehearts plan on hosting a "W6" jersey auction in honor of the six brave firefighters who died in the Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse Fire of 1999 as well as FF Roy and FF Jon Davies, who perished in the line of duty in 2011. All the proceeds of that auction will go to the Ava Roy Fund.
Sundays belong to the kids, as all Sundays will Be Kids Club Sundays, and Kids Club members will get in for free. All kids that are 12 years old and under are eligible, all they need to do is be signed up for the Worcester Bravehearts Kids Club, and show up at the games! After the games kids get to run the bases. These games will also feature some awesome additional promotions, starting with June 9 where the team will be giving out free Bravehearts baseball cards. Then, on June 23, the zoo will be coming to the Bravehearts as the team welcomes Southwick Zoo AND special guests the ZOOperstars on Zoo Day. The ZOOperstars are inflatable animal mascots with names like Roger Clamens, Tim Tebull, and LeBronco James who perform hilarious stunts on-field. On July 21st, the Bravehearts will attempt to set the world record for the largest game of catch on field. Then, on July 28, the team will be helping kids get ready for the upcoming school year with a special lunch box giveaway.
Just like the great promotions for kids, there are also some great promotions for adults. While everyone is allowed into the ballpark on Thursday, June 27, and Thursday, July 18, the promotion is only for adults. Those nights will feature the Baseball Draught Craft Beer nights. On those two nights, fans who buy a ticket to the Craft Beer event will receive a ticket to the baseball game, as well as 12 tasting tickets (3 oz. pours). There will also be live music on these nights presented by Atlas Distributing and featuring WAAF personality Mike Hsu.
Promotions for kids, check! Promotions for adults, check! Promotions for dogs, check! That’s right, there are promotions for your dogs!. On Tuesday, June 18, and Monday, July 22, the Bravehearts will be hosting the popular Bark in the Park nights. On these nights, dogs will be allowed into the ballpark, and there could be some ruff competition for foul balls those nights.
