Bravehearts Come From Behind

Westfield, MA - The Bravehearts stormed into Westfield Monday night, rallying in the middle and late innings to win 12-6.  In a game in which every Braveheart starter crossed the plate at least once. The last time this happened was on June 21st, 2014 in a 19-1 win vs Old Orchard Beach.

The Starfires got on the board early following a double and an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. In the second, Elijah Dale drew a walk with the bases loaded to bring in the second run. Three more runs were tacked on in the third after two singles and an error. Their final run came in the ninth on a passed ball.

The Bravehearts exploded for four runs in the fourth inning after recording only two hits through the first three innings. A single and an error put Ben McNeill on second, however he would not stay there long. Mack Cheli drove him in with a double to the fence, and Tyler Becker hit the next pitch out of the park. Jack Gardner represented the fourth run after crossing the plate before a play at second ended the inning.

The rally would continue in the fifth when a base hit by Becker would tie the game at five. The sixth inning would bring three more runs for Worcester after a walk with the bases loaded for John Thrasher and a two run single by Ben McNeill. The Bravehearts would tack on four more runs in the ninth after doubles by Craig Corliss and Mack Cheli, along with an error by the Westfield short stop.

Jakob Barker was credited with the win after three and two thirds innings of work in which he did not allow a run.

With today’s win, Worcester moves to 9-10. The next Bravehearts game is tomorrow, Tuesday June 25th at 6:30pm against the Bristol Blues at home.
