WEYMOUTH, Mass. (April 29, 2020) -- The Futures Collegiate Baseball League (“FCBL”) today announced that the May 27 start date of the 2020 season has been delayed in light of the Coronavirus pandemic. The league remains optimistic about taking the field at some point this season, and is working towards that goal with its clubs, owners and league executives.
“As soon as we have clarity on guidelines and procedures for playing baseball, we will look to adapt and begin,” said Futures League Commissioner Joe Paolucci. “While all scenarios and contingencies are under consideration, we remain hopeful.”
The FCBL will continue to monitor guidance from governmental and health officials and will update the status of the 2020 season when appropriate as more information becomes available.
The Bravehearts have already consulted multiple health professionals in order to draft safety precautions for all fans in the 2020 season and are in the process of working with the Futures League to define guidelines for safe interaction between players and host families as well. More information is expected on or about May 18th when Governor Baker's stay-at-home order expires.
