Bravehearts Falter to NavigatorsLynn, MA- Where the North Shore Navigators took advantage of their scoring opportunities, the Worcester Bravehearts simply could not come up with the clutch hits, stranding 12 runners in an 8-3 loss Tuesday night
After loading the bases in the first, the Bravehearts were able to score two runs, on an Aidan Wilde single, and a Paul Coumoulos sacrifice fly. But they could not get any more and stranded two runners that inning. They again stranded two runners in the fourth.
After going scoreless in the first, the Navigators got on the scoreboard in each of the next three innings. A pair of doubles from Peter Burns and Ryan Turenne scored a run for the Navigators in the second. Then in the third, the Navigators struck again, scoring a run on a trio of singles.
They broke the game open in the fourth, batting around, and scoring six runs on five hits. The biggest blow was a bases clearing triple to score three by Ben Malgeri. All of this was done against Bravehearts reliever Sebastian Gruszecki, who picked up the loss.
The Bravehearts scored another run in the fifth on a Ben Rice single, but again left two men on the bases.
A bright spot for Worcester was third basemen Aidan Wilde, who went 3-5 with three singles and an RBI.
A slew of new Bravehearts pitchers made their debuts, with Chris Radovic (Clark University), Brad Marchetti (Tufts University), Mitchell Pascarella (UConn), and Jonathan Rice (Stonehill College) all going one shut out inning each.
The Bravehearts next game takes place on Wednesday, as they travel to Westfield to take on the Starfires for the first time this season. Worcester went 8-2 against Westfield last season.
