Bravehearts Battered in Home Loss to Westfield
Leominster, MA – The Worcester Bravehearts were held to four hits in a 14-2 loss to the Westfield Starfires Friday night at Doyle Field.
The loss was the first for Worcester against Westfield in 2020. Worcester falls to 17-9 while Westfield moves to 13-15. Westfield got the scoring started in the top of the first when Michael DeMartino scored Ramon Jimenez and Reggie Crawford on a two-run single.
The Bravehearts tied the game in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by Tyler Patane (Franklin Pierce) that also scored Aidan Wilde (Stonehill). Westfield took the lead back in the top of the third, however, on a Jimenez two-run home run, scoring Drew DeMartino.
Westfield would bat around in the top of the seventh, scoring a total of five runs in the process.
Cole Chudoba (Assumption) took the loss for Worcester, giving up seven earned runs on 10 hits while striking out seven in five innings pitched. Chase Jeter earned the win for Westfield, tossing six innings of two-run ball, giving up three hits, striking out six and walking one.
The Bravehearts are on the road Saturday against the Brockton Rox. First pitch is at 1:05. Fans can watch the game on NESN.
