Worcester Whizzes By NashuaNashua, NH – The Worcester Bravehearts got back in the win column Thursday evening with a 3-1 triumph over the Nashua Silver Knights at Holman Stadium.
The win moves the first place Bravehearts to 21-12 while Nashua falls to 20-14.
Both teams remained scoreless until the top of the sixth. Nick Martin (Westfield State) reached on an error, and Ben McNeill (NYIT) singled. Both runners advanced on a passed ball, and Tyler Patane (Franklin Pierce) drove them in on an RBI single to put Worcester up 2-0.
The Bravehearts extended their lead in the seventh when Matt Shaw (Maryland) hit a solo home run to make the score 3-0.
While Nashua loaded the bases in the seventh, Carson Hauben (Rollins) came in as relief for Worcester and struck out the side.
‘Hearts starter Cole Chudoba (Assumption) earned the win, pitching six scoreless innings, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out six. Taking the loss for Nashua was Patrick Harrington, who gave up two runs, one earned, in five innings on five hits, walking one and striking out seven. Brad Marchetti (Tufts) got the save, giving up a run in the ninth on two hits while striking out two.
The Bravehearts return to Doyle Field Friday evening for a 6:00 matchup against the North Shore Navigators. |
