Bravehearts Battered by NavigatorsLeominster, MA— Cam Climo (UMass Lowell) drove in six runs for North Shore, leading the visiting Navigators to a 15-1 victory over the Bravehearts on Friday night. The North Shore bats put up 17 hits against the Worcester pitching staff.
North Shore struck first in the third inning. Cody Morissette (Boston College) put the Navigators on the board first with a RBI double. The next batter, Climo, hit a two-run RBI single to give North Shore a 3-0 lead. Matt Shaw (Maryland) hit a solo homer in the bottom half of the third to give Worcester its lone run of the game.
In the fourth, Morissette hit a two-run homerun as part of a three-run inning for North Shore. The Navigators buried Worcester in the fifth inning by putting up seven runs. Tommy Seidl (Harvard) led the inning off with a double and would later score on a wild pitch to make it a 7-1 ball game. Ben Malgeri (Northeastern) singled with the bases loaded, scoring two runs. Later, Climo hit a grand slam, extending North Shore’s lead to 13-1.
The Navigators scored their final runs of the evening in the seventh, when Sal Frelick (Boston College) hit a two-run homer to give North Shore a 15-1 lead.
Worcester starter Shawn Babineau (Franklin Pierce) picked up the loss. He went four innings, giving up six earned runs off of twelve hits. Tom Chmielewski (Princeton) picked up the win for the Navigators. The North Shore starter pitched six innings, surrendering one run off of just three hits.
Worcester had just four hits as a team. Frelick and Malgeri, meanwhile, had four hits by themselves for North Shore. Morissette, Seidl, Climo, and Logan Bravo (Harvard) all had multi-hit days as well for the Navigators. Worcester lost all three games versus North Shore this summer being outscored 27-5 in the process.
With the loss, Worcester falls to 21-13 on the season staying a game and a half above Nashua for first place thanks to the Silver Knights’ loss. The Navigators improve to 16-18. The Bravehearts continue play tomorrow night in Westfield against the Starfires. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm. |
