Bravehearts Power Past Lake MonstersWorcester, MA- The Worcester Bravehearts were able to take down the Vermont Lake Monsters in the first of a two-game series in Worcester on Wednesday night, winning 8-6. The Bravehearts move to 8-9 while Vermont drops to 9-8.
Vermont was able to strike first, scoring 4 runs in the first 2 innings. The Bravehearts clawed back in the 4th inning highlighted by a double from Christian Siciliano (Southern Maine) that scored Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic), Alex Neff (Dayton) and Gavin Noriega (Marist). Leominster native Jonathan Santucci (Duke) then scored Siciliano with a double of his own, tying the game.
The damage was not done in the 4th Inning, with Shrewsbury’s Nick Martin (Westfield State) sending a 2 run home run into left field to give the Bravehearts a 6-4 lead.
Vermont’s M.J .Metz (Trinity TX) responded with a 2 run home run of his own in the 5th Inning, tying the game at 6.
In the bottom of the 7th, Dakota Harris (Polk State) homered to give the ‘Hearts the lead right back at 7-6. El Rico Riley (Jackson State) doubled later in the inning to drive in Neff for the second time.
Worcester reliever Tyler Mudd earned the win going four scoreless innings allowing three walks, one hit and striking out six.
The Bravehearts look ahead to their next contest, facing the Lake Monsters again, Thursday June 17th. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm at Fitton Field.
