Bravehearts Bounce Back Against Bees

New Britain, CT— The Worcester Bravehearts completed their second comeback this week after an 8-6 win over the New Britain Bees at New Britain Stadium Saturday night. With the win, Worcester moves to 13-12, while New Britain moves to 12-14.

 
The Bravehearts got out to a hot start with singles by Randy Flores (Franklin Pierce), Rico Riley (Jackson State), and Tayven Kelley (Penn State). Kelley’s single would score Riley, giving Ashland native Alex Amalfi (UMass Boston) a 1-0 lead before he even touched the mound.
 
The Bees would take the lead in the fourth inning, with Amalfi allowing four runs on four hits. Holden native LJ Keevan came in to relieve Amalfi, striking out the first two batters he faced. Keevan would allow two more runs in the fifth on a single by Christian Fagnant (Amherst), bringing the score to 6-1.
 
Worcester struck in the fifth when Alex Neff (Dayton) scored on an inside the park home run hit by North Attleboro native Zach DeMattio, bringing the score to 6-3. Riley would tie the game in the sixth with a three-run home run, scoring Flores and Shrewsbury native Nick Martin (Westfield State). DeMattio hit his second home run of the night in the seventh, a two-run shot over the left-center fence, which brought the score to 8-6.
 
‘Hearts reliever Chris Radovic (Clark) was credited the win after allowing just one hit while striking out one over one inning of work. New Britain’s Tim Pfaffenbichler (Eastern Connecticut State) was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs on five hits and one walk, while striking out two over 1.1 innings. Shrewsbury native Tyler Mudd (Holy Cross) got the nine out save, allowing just two hits and one walk over three innings in which he struck out five.
 
Worcester returns home tomorrow, Sunday June 27th when they face the Nashua Silver Knights at 4:00 p.m.
