Bravehearts Win Pitching DuelNew Britain, CT- The Bravehearts traveled to New Britain on Wednesday Night to take on the Bees. In a pitching duel the ‘Hearts were able to escape with a 3-2 win, increasing their overall record to 25-22. The win was highlighted by 4 innings of scoreless work from the bullpen.
Bravehearts starter Max LeBlanc (Umass Amherst) went five strong innings giving up 2 hits, 2 runs (1 earned) while walking two and striking out eight. Worcester’s own Pat Gallagher (Saint Leo) was able to record the six-out save, striking out four.
The Bravehearts struck first in the top half of the first after Randy Flores (Franklin Pierce) scored on an RBI single by Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic). The Bees answered in the bottom of the inning in similar fashion after Ryan Bagdasarian (UCONN) singled home Alec Ritch (Middlebury).
The lead would quickly be taken back by Worcester in the third after Gavin Noriega (Marist) doubled home Salado to give the Bravehearts their second run of the game. History would repeat itself in the fourth as Salado once again hit Flores in to make the score 3-1. The Bees would add a run in the fifth to make it 3-2, but could not ultimately tie the game.
The Bravehearts return home tomorrow to face the Nashua Silver Knights in the first of a four game home stand that will also feature Hockey Night on July 30th with an appearance from Boston Bruin Charlie Coyle. First pitch for both Thursday and Friday games will be at 6:35 pm.
