Bravehearts Fall to Silver Knights

Worcester, MA— After an hour-long delaythe Worcester Bravehearts fell to the Nashua Silver Knights Thursday night, 8-3. With the loss, Worcester moves to 26-25, while Nashua moves to 17-32.

 

The Silver Knights got on the board immediately, scoring three runs on three hits, a walk, and an error in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Chelmsford native Patrick Casserly (Holy Cross). 

 

The ‘Hearts brought back two runs in the third inning. Christian Siciliano (Southern Maine) led off the inning with a double, and was driven in on a double by Randy Flores (Franklin Pierce). Flores would move to third after a passed ball, and came around to score on a ground out by Cam Caraher (Southern New Hampshire). The tying run came around in the fourth after a single by Zach Demattio (Wheaton) was stretched into a triple by two errors on Nashua’s left fielder. Demattio came around on a ground out by Grafton native Andrew Eppinger (NJIT).

 

Nashua regained the lead in the sixth inning, scoring two runs on two hits and three walks, bringing the score to 5-3. They would plate three more runs in the ninth inning.

 

Silver Knights starter Timmy Kalantzakos (Merrimack) earned the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out four through six innings. Bravehearts starter, Holden native, and Saint Paul alum Luke Delongchamp (Boston College) was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits and four walks, while striking out seven through 5.2 innings. 

 

Worcester returns home tomorrow to face the Pittsfield Suns on Hockey Night. Hockey Night will include appearances by the Worcester Railers, representatives from ReLIVE the Miracle, and Boston Bruin Charlie Coyle. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
