Rodney Lartey-Otoo to be PA AnnouncerWorcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts have announced that Rodney Lartey-Otoo will be the newest member of the team’s game-day experience staff as the public address announcer. Lartey-Otoo comes with a plethora of experience in the Worcester sports scene at all levels including high school, collegiate and professional sports. Fitton Field is a familiar spot for Lartey-Otoo, as he is the primary public address announcer for Holy Cross Athletics.
A graduate of Holy Name Central Catholic High School, Lartey-Otoo attended Worcester State College before transferring and graduating from UMass Amherst. His public address announcing career began in 2011 when he filled in for a friend at his former high school’s football game. Since then, Rodney has been the voice of Worcester Sports, working a variety of contests from single games to city-wide tournaments.
At the high school level, Lartey-Otoo remains the primary announcer for Saint Paul Athletics in Worcester, and for the annual Worcester city-wide basketball tournament. He also works with Westborough High School Athletics. Collegiately, he serves as the primary announcer for Holy Cross Athletics, while also working with Worcester State Athletics. At the professional level, Lartey-Otoo was the voice of the Mass Pirates Football team, Worcester 78’s Basketball Team and has worked with the Worcester Railers Hockey Club. Outside of Worcester, Lartey-Otoo has worked with UMass-Lowell,
“What I am most excited about is to be a part of a team that has had a concept of being a family both within the organization and in the community from day one,” said Lartey-Otoo. “Working a couple of games last year and getting to know everyone, I felt that I instantly belonged in this organization from my first time in the Bravehearts press box.”
Lartey-Otoo worked in the ‘Hearts press box for a select few games during the 2021 season. He also announced the American Legion Northeast Regional Baseball Tournament, which the Bravehearts host annually at Fitton Field.
“I have worked closely with Rodney for years for multiple different teams within the Worcester sports market,” said Director of Fan Experience Donny Porcaro. “He is the ultimate professional, and fits the Bravehearts mold perfectly. I believe his passion for getting the fans excited mixed with his local ties within the community makes him the perfect fit for the position.”
Bravehearts fans will have their first chance to hear Rodney on the mic during their home opener on May 27 when they take on the Nashua Silver Knights. |
