Bravehearts Go Back-to-BackWorcester, MA – The Worcester Bravehearts defeated the Norwich Sea Unicorns 8-2 Sunday afternoon in Worcester at Fitton Field. The Bravehearts are now 2-1 on the season while Norwich falls to 1-2. The Sea Unicorns started the action by scoring a run in the top of the second. An RBI single by Connor Podeszwa (Tufts) scored David Christoforo (Southern Connecticut State) to give Norwich an early lead. Worcester responded with five runs in the bottom half of the frame. After the Bravehearts loaded the bases on two Norwich errors and a walk, Kosta Drosidis (Anna Maria) drove in Joseph Pesce (Franklin Pierce), Connor Peek (Holy Cross) and Matty Warren (Palm Beach Atlantic) on a bases-clearing double. The Bravehearts loaded the bases again and tacked on two more runs when Gavin Noriega (Marist) was hit by a pitch, and Andrew Chronister (Shippensberg) drew a bases-loaded walk. The Bravehearts led the rest of the way, adding another run in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh. Norwich’s second run came in the top of the seventh on a Jared Zimbardo (Quinnipiac) sacrifice fly that scored Podeszwa. Bravehearts starter Clay Robbins (Southern Maine) picked up the win for Worcester. He gave up one run across five innings on four hits and two walks while striking out three. The loss went to Norwich starter Kolby Pascarelli (UConn), who gave up five runs, three earned, on three hits, walking three while striking out one in 1.1 innings. Worcester is back at home on Memorial Day for a 1:00 matchup against the Pittsfield Suns. |
