Bravehearts Rally Late Against Sea UnicornsThe Worcester Bravehearts defeated the Norwich Sea Unicorns 4-2 Wednesday night at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut.
The Bravehearts move to 10-7 on the season with the win, while the Sea Unicorns fall to 7-10.
Worcester threatened in the fourth inning, loading the bases on a double by Matt Livingston (Siena) and walks by Lewis Barnum (Bryant) and Sal Grinstead (Palm Beach State), though they failed to score in the frame. They would eventually score in the fifth inning after a Jake Marquez (Maine) single scored Connor Peek (Holy Cross).
Norwich took the lead in the seventh inning on a bases-clearing triple that brought the score to 2-1.
Worcester regained the lead in the eighth inning after a sacrifice bunt by Barnum forced a throwing error allowing Gavin Noriega (Marist) to score. A fielder’s choice by Grinstead allowed Livingston to score, and a passed ball gave Grinstead enough time to cross the plate, bringing Worcester’s lead to 4-2.
Bravehearts starter Nick Giattino (Amherst) cruised through five innings of work in the no-decision, allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out one. Jared Kapurch (St. Petersburg) earned the win in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out one through 2.1 innings. Norwich’s Jack Kabel (Nichols) was tagged with the loss. |
