Bravehearts Bats Stay ColdThe Worcester Bravehearts fell 10-0 in Thursday night’s meeting with the Norwich Sea Unicorns at Dodd Stadium. Worcester drops to 12-11, while Norwich moves up to 12-13. Norwich took the lead in the bottom of the third thanks to an RBI single by Tyler Kipp (Fairfield) that scored Tremayne Cobb Jr. (Hartford). The Sea Unicorns broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth. Another RBI single by Kipp would bring in Andrew Bianco (New Haven). After Kipp scored on a fielder’s choice, Drew Kron (UConn) singled to score Alex Irizarry (Maryland) and Ryan Hyde (UConn). Cobb added a two-run triple later in the inning and scored on a single by Bianco. An infield single by Ray Leonzi (Fairfield) and a bases-loaded walk to Hyde would give Norwich a 10-0 lead and a mercy-rule victory. The win went to Norwich’s John Ruggiero Jr. (Bridgeport). He tossed six shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out three. Bravehearts starter Kyle Rizy (Bryant) picked up the loss, giving up one run in five innings on four hits and two walks while striking out four. The Bravehearts continue their road trip Friday evening when they travel to New Britain to take on the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
