Bravehearts to Wear Jerseys Designed By Boston Children’s Hospital Patients On Sunday, July 23rd

Jerseys Designed by Patients on 6 West Transplant Floor

Worcester, MA- This Sunday, July 23rd, the Bravehearts will wear unique jerseys designed by patients at Boston Children’s Hospital, specifically on the 6 West Transplant Floor. The jerseys, which were given to the hospital to be designed in April, are now shipped back and ready for the Bravehearts to wear when they take the field Sunday against the Pittsfield Suns. Each player’s jersey will have a different design from a different patient from Boston Children’s Hospital.

The game and the jerseys are sponsored by Carr Financial Group of Worcester.  

“To give children the ability to color the jerseys we will wear on July 23 is pretty cool,” said GM Dave Peterson. “We  are so grateful for the work that Boston Children’s Hospital does, and we just wanted to do something this summer that makes a difference in the lives of the families who are being helped by their care.” 

The Bravehearts saw first-hand the power of Boston Children’s Hospital. Bryce Linton, son of Bravehearts’ owner Julie  Creedon-Linton, spent 17 weeks under the care of the nurses and physicians at Boston Children’s Hospital last summer  while undergoing a bone marrow transplant to cure HyperIGM. The Creedon Family hopes that this fundraiser can add some brightness to the healthcare experience other families encounter during difficult times. 

“Child Life Services helped our family get through all of the procedures and day to day life that Bryce had to endure  during his time at BCH,” said Bravehearts’ owner Julie Creedon. “They keep these patients going in such a positive  way, making each patient feel special and entertained. Between activities, games and spending time with the Child Life  staff and volunteers, Bryce was able to feel a sense of normalcy during an otherwise difficult time.” 

The jerseys will be worn for the game and then auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the 6 West Transplant Floor at Boston Children’s Hospital.  

“The funds raised by the Bravehearts will allow the Child Life Services team to purchase items for the playroom used  by bone marrow transplant patients, said Brittany Metcalf, CCLS, Child Life Specialist II at Boston Children’s  Hospital. “The playroom includes items for all ages and developmental levels, special gifts, coping items and education  resources. The aim is to enhance patients’ emotional, social, and cognitive growth during their hospital stay.”
