Blues Tune Down Bravehearts Bats

Bristol, CT- After a come-from-behind victory in their previous game against Brockton, the Bravehearts could not hold the lead on Tuesday night in Bristol losing 5-3.

Bristol was the first to strike in the bottom of the first inning. Ian Ostberg lead the Blues off with a walk and then a steal of second base. Ostberg then went to third on a fielders choice, and eventually came home on a ground out to first by Matthew Bonvicini.

Tyler Patane made his second start of the season for Worcester. The righty went five innings, allowing three hits, one earned run and striking out five.

Worcester quickly answered in the top of the second inning. Mack Cheli lead off the inning by reaching on an error by the shortstop Ryan Lutz. After a fielders choice retired Cheli and put Brett Coffel on first, Dustin Harris was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with one out. Alex Gionis then stepped up and hit an RBI double which scored Coffel and advanced Harris to third. Up next, Mariano Ricciardi drew a twelve pitch walk to load the bases. John Thrasher then gave Worcester a 3-1 lead on a two-run double scoring Coffel and Harris. Thrasher finished the day 2-3 with a double, two RBI and two walks.

Rob Cerulle came in for relief in the sixth inning for Worcester, and Bristol was able to capitalize. Cooper Mrowka started the big inning with a one out single. Giacomo Brancato then walked to advanced Mrowka. Back-to-back doubles by Theodore Hague and Miguel De Los Santos gave Bristol the lead 4-3, as Mrowka, Brancato and Hague came into score. Ryan Lutz singled to put runners at the corners. On the same wild pitch that advanced Lutz to second, De Los Santos was thrown out attempting to score. With two outs, Ian Ostberg singled to bring in Lutz and increase the lead to 5-3.

The Bravehearts will be back on the road tomorrow as the travel to Nashua for the first time on the season to take on the Silver Knights. First pitch will be at 7:05.
